I feel bad for bow users. All throughout fantasy-media they get outshined if the setting has guns. Why does Chasca even use a bow when her being a sharp shooter is so pivotal to her character. As least Chlorinde it makes sense because both swords and pistols are traditional duelling items because weapons tend to be chosen beforehand (tip: always go for the sword, way less fatalities). I like in Lara Croft you can choose a bow for an actual logical reason over gun because it's quieter. Machine guns tend to be too convenient for a fantasy setting so bows also a quick fire advantage. That also puts it above crossbiw in that regard. You see it on the ranged hillychurls. Pulling the spring back on a crossbow involved a lot of strength so historically it was designed to be done using the foot but even that took several seconds when a skilled archer with the right technique could take half a second.
